I have set up this site primarily for the benefit of my grown up children and to give them an insight in to what their Grandfather experienced whilst in military service with the Scots Guards.
Also, this may be of benefit to anyone having an interest in modern military history and I would be most pleased to hear from you if that is the case.
The site commences with my Father’s enlistment and follows his career from his initial posting to Egypt with 1st Battalion to his wartime experiences with 3rd Tank Battalion in NW Europe and subsequently in Malaya in the late 1940’s with 2nd Battalion. Thereafter he was posted to Germany (British Army of the Rhine) and also assisted the Regimental Quartermaster in the preparations for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 2nd in 1953. He was finally discharged from the colours of the Scots Guards in 1958.
I have also added some relevant pages which follow on in chronological order – for example our “battlefield” tour of Normandy on the occasion of 70th Anniversary of D-Day in 2014.
This is the second version of this website, the previous one having been corrupted by malicious third parties so it is still in the process of re-development (please bear with me as this may take some time). In the meantime please click on link below :
